Fr. Albin Grous

Vice Rector of SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary at Orchard Lake, Michigan

Fr. Albin Grous has been named Vice Rector of SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary at Orchard Lake, Michigan. His appointment by Cardinal Adam Maida, archbishop of Detroit and chair of the seminary's Board of Trustees, was announced by Rector Msgr. Frank Koper.

A native of Philadelphia, Fr. Grous, who has been a member of the seminary faculty since 1991, will continue to serve as Academic Dean, a post he has held since 1994, and as assistant professor of systematic theology.

A 1979 graduate of St. Mary's Preparatory and a 1983 graduate of St. Mary's College, also at Orchard Lake, Fr. Grous completed his theology studies for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, where he earned Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees.

He was ordained in 1987 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and served three years at St. Adalbert Church, Philadelphia, before his appointment to Orchard Lake.

Fr. Grous was sent to Rome for doctoral studies, where he earned a Licentiate on Sacred Theology with a specialization in Dogmatic Theology in 1992, and is presently working to complete his doctoral thesis -- "The Correlation of the Transcendental and Categorical Dimensions of the Pneumatology of Karl Rahner" -- from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Fr. Grous is a weekend assistant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Wyandotte, Michigan.
