Mother Mary Veronica. Foundress of Bernardine Sisters, Third Order of St. Francis. Born in Warsaw, Poland. Nov. 5 1843; daughter of Mattheus Grzedowski and Apolonia Chodukowska. Entered the religious community of Franciscan Sisters at Zakliczyn, Poland, in 1885. Came to America in 1894 with four other pious women and soon thereafter founded the religious order of Bernardine Sisters, Third Order of St. Francis, with headquarters at Reading, Pa. Acted as Superior General of the Bernardine Sisters until 1912. Died January 13, 1916, and is buried at Reading, Pa.From: "Who's Who in Polish America" by Rev.
