Jozwiakowski (Jozwin), Vincent
Editor. Born in Poland; son of Joseph and Anthonia Maciejewski. At the age of 13 came to U.S., settling in Chicago, Ill. Worked as cabinet maker's helper at Marshall Field Co. At the age of 16 was engaged as a clerk at Marshall Field Co. Rev. Vincent Barzynski employed him as secretary of St. Stanislaus parochial school. At the age of 21 became citizen of the U.S. Clerk of County Court. Married Ann Nering, who died in 1932. In 1901 clerk in the administrative offices of "Dziennik Chicagoski" and later accepted position on the editorial staff. In 1907 clerk at Northwestern Trust and Savings Bank. In 1923 elected alderman from the 16th ward. In 1910-1911 Commissioner of city improvements, Chicago, Ill. During World War I, secretary of Polish Civic Committee of Chicago under Smulski and Jarecki. Director and vicepresident of P.R.C.U. General secretary of Polish Alma Mater and later its president.
