Dr. Anna Kirchmann is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of History/Political Science/Philosophy, at Eastern Connecticut State University.

She received her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota and her Masters with honors in history from Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland.

Dr. Kirchmann has to her credit a significant number of publications many of which have a strong basis in post-war Poland dealing with the issue of the World War II Diaspora and the lives and happenings regarding the immigrants' resettling and their future in the United States.

Her most recent book, "The Exile Mission: The Polish Political Diaspora and the Polish Americans 1939-1956. " 2004 earned her the Oskar Halecki Prize for the best book on Polish-American topics. "This award recognizes an important book on the Polish experience in the United States".

Dr. Kirchmann has also received the Joseph Swastek Prize for the best article in "Polish American Studies " for " Polish Post-World War Diaspora: An Agenda for a New Millennium" 2002.

In 2001 she received the George Kulczycki (PAHA) Award for the best book manuscript "The Exile Mission: Polish Political Refugees and the American Polonia, 1939-1956."
