Konopa, John S.
Merchant. Born July 24, 1883 in Morewood, Pa.; son of Andrew and Catherine (Cylka) Konopa. Graduate of St. Stanislaus College, Chicago, Ill., in 1910. For 16 years president of "Stowarzyszenie Opieki nad Sierotami" [Orphan Care Society] in Chicago. Married Anna Szatkowska on May 29, 1907; children: John F., Loretta, Virginia Annette. In 1914 established the Ecclesiastical Goods Company in Chicago. Former secretary general of P.R.C.U. for two terms and treasurer for one term, elected in 1920. Special recruiting officer during the World War I. Member of P.R.C.U., P.N.A., Polish Alma Mater, Polish Welfare Association, Catholic Circle, Ecclesiastical Merchants Guild. Offices at 129 N.
