NEW JERSEY - Funeral services for Sister Mary Sperantia Kosakowski were held at the Felician Sisters' Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, August 1, 2008. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister was laid to rest in the Felician Sisters' Cemetery in Lodi. Sister Mary Sperantia died on Monday, July 28, 2008 in Lodi, New Jersey. She was 96 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 77 years.

The former Laura Kosakowski, Sister Sperantia was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, in 1912. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, New Jersey in 1931, and received the Felician habit in 1932. She made first religious vows in 1933 and professed final vows in 1939.

A teacher and administrator on the elementary level, Sister Sperantia earned a B.A. degree in education from Seton Hall University.

Sister Sperantia is survived by her niece Sister Mary Ann Kosakowski of Rochester, New York, and by her nephew Robert Kosakowski of Roswell, Georgia.
