Kosinski, Rev. John, C.R.
Professor, educator. Born July 5, 1870 in Orle, Poland. Came with parents to U.S. in 1871 and settled in Chicago. Primary education at St. Stanislaus Kostka parochial school. Sent to St. Jerome College, Kitchener, Canada, from which he graduated in 1887. Philosophy and theology in Rome, where he studied at Gregorianum. Sent to Poland to study Polish literature and history at the Universities in Lwow and Krakow. Returned to Canada where he was professor at St. Jerome College. Ordained in 1893. After ordination sent to St. Mary's College, at St. Mary's, Ky., where he was a vice-president. In 1897 sent to St. Stanislaus College, Chicago, where he taught and was vice rector, and later rector, from 1906 to 1909. In 1909 appointed pastor of St. John Kanty parish, Chicago, Ill. For some time president of Chicago Daily News Corporation; member of P.R.C.U., and member of the Educational Department; Polish Alma Mater.
