Kozarski, S. J. D.
Colonel. Attended secondary schools in Warsaw, Poland. In 1863 joined the Polish insurrection against Russia. Captured and imprisoned in Olmutz by Austrian soldiers under the assumed name of Kozierowski, F. In 1865 joined Emperor Maximilian Expedition to Mexico, where he joined Casadores a Caballo. After Emperor Maximilian was shot, he was imprisoned in Vera Cruz; later released, went to New Orleans, La., in 1867. Earned his living by being a carpenter, baker, and owner of a cigar-factory.
