Kruszka, Rev. Venceslaus
Historian. Born March 2, 1868 in Slabomierz, Poland. Secondary education received in Wielun and Wagrowiec. Studied philosophy at Jesuit College in Chyrow, Poland, where he was a teacher from 1890 to 1891. In 1893 graduated from Gregorianum in Rome, Italy, department of Theology and from the Jagellonian University in Krakow, Poland. In 1893 came to U. S.; ordained at St. Francis Semmary, St. Francis, Wis., June 16, 1895. From June 16, 1895 to February 25, 1896 assistant pastor at St. Josaphat's Parish, Milwaukee, Wis. In 1896 organized St. Venceslaus Parish, Rypin, Wis., and was its first pastor until Sept. 18, 1909. From Sept. 18, 1909 until his death February 28, 1937, pastor of St. Adalberts Parish, Milwauke, Wis. President of the Polish Committee on Milwaukee during the organizing of the Polish Army. Advocated Polish Dioceses in U. S. with the Polish bishops for the Polish Catholics. His writings were numerous: "Rzym Neapol Wezuwiusz" 1895; "Hymny Wielkopostue," 1896; "0 Pieknosci," 1899. "Anarchizm i jego stosunek do socializmu" 1901; "Ktore rzady najlepsze"; "Wrazenia z wycieczki misyjnej," "The unbeliever before the Tribunal of Reason," "Historja Polska w Ameryce," 1910; "Siedm Siedmioleci" 1927.
