Kucharzewski, Jan
Contemporary historian, writer. Born in Wysok Mazowiecki, Poland in 1876. Graduate of School of Law, University of Warsaw. Chairman of Council of Polish Ministers 1917-1918. Delegate to the Arbitration Court in Hague from 1925 to 1939. Member of Polish Academy since 1926 to 1939. Author of numerous historical books. Owned one of the largest private collections of historical works in Poland which was destroyed during the siege of Warsaw in September of 1939 while the Nazis invaded Poland. Was offered several times the position of professor of history by numerous Polish universities but always declined the offer. Active member of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
