Kurowski, George (Whitey)

A stellar third baseman with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1940s. He batted .300 or better in his last three full seasons before an arm injury prematurely ended his career. His most memorable hit was a ninth inning three-run homer in the 1942 World Series that sparked the Cardinals to the title against the New York Yankees.
