Nering, John
Social worker. Retired in 1917 as superintendent of Postal Telegraph Cable Company after 48 years of service. Born Dec. 5, 1871 in Szonowo, Poland. Son of Julian and Catherine (Winski) Nering. Education: St. Stanislaus Kostka College, Chicago. Ill. In 1898 married Agnes Wojtalewicz. Former president of the Catholic Circle of Chicago. Director of Polish Social Welfare Bureau in 1917. President of St. Stanislaus Kostka Choir. President of Holy Name Society of St. Stanislaus Kostka parish. In 1900 together with Madame Modjeska appeared on the stage. Member of Dramatic Club of St. Stanislaus parish. Former president of Polish Alma Mater, a fraternal organization in Chicago. Member of P.R.C.U., K. of C., Chamber of Commerce. Died in 1922.
