Netter Family

Konstanty Netter was bom in Mazowsze, Poland in 1919 where he lived and worked on his father's farm. In 1938 he met a beautiful woman, Sophie Zaremba, who later became his wife. Sophie was bom in Philadelphia but raised in Poland.

After they were married a mere six weeks, Sophie returned to America and Konstanty was planning to follow her but before he could the war broke out in 1939 and all their plans fell through. Russia quickly captured Poland and in early 1940 he was arrested and sent to Siberia. After two grueling years, he was freed and joined the Polish army organized in Russia under General Anders.

The army was sent to the Middle East for training and there he had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land in Palestine and many other historic sites. In early 1944 the army was sent to Italy to fight the Germans, and he fought in the famous battle of Monte Casino and here he received the medal of Monte Casino.

On July 16, 1946 Konstanty's dreams were finally fulfilled as he rejoined his wife in America and in 1948 they had their first child -- Christine. Three years later in 1951 they had another beautiful girl, Diane.

In August of 1953 he finally succeeded to open his own business -- Konny's Auto Body. And in 1955 he was again blessed, this time with twin sons, Henry and Steve.

All his chiidren attended Catholic grade school and high school. Christine finished college at Pierce Business College and hairdressing school. She married Robert Chrobocinski, who has a master's degree in Engineering and Mathematics from Drexel and Johns Hopkins Universities. And they have blessed us with two grandsons, David and Michael.

Diane finished Holy Family College and received her Bachelor degree in Economics. She married Edward Weklar, who finished law school and was working at the headquarters of the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C. Diane worked as a Director of the National Legal Aid Association also in Washington, D.C. and they were blessed with one child, Edward III.

Steve finished his fourth year in Drexel University to obtain his Bachelor degree in Accounting and he went for his Master's degree.

Henry followed in father's footsteps and was helping manage the business in its second generation.

The entire Netter family belongs to the Polish National Alliance. Konstanty belong also to many organizations such as: The Polish Home Association; Polish Heritage Society; SPK Veterans of the Second World War; and The Polish Army Veterans Association of America. Also in October of 1976 he was elected Commander of the 10th District of the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, whose headquarters are located in Philadelphia.
