Mathematician and statistician. Born in Benderach, Rumania, April 16, 1894. In 1924 University of Warsaw granted him a degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Special studies undertaken in London and Paris. Lecturer in mathematics at the University of Warsaw from 1928 to 1934. Lecturer of mathematics and mathematical statistics in the Warsaw College of Agriculture from 1930 to 1934. Lecturer at the University College of London from 1934 to 1938 and at the University of Paris, 1936. Author of mathematical books published in Poland and in France. Associate editor of "Statistical Research Memoirs" and "Annals of Mathematical Statistics." Since 1938 professor of mathematics and director of Statistical Laboratory. University of California.
