Jan Nowak-Jezioranski
A former Director of Radio Free Europe in Munich, Germany (1949-1969). A legendary underground freedom fighter during World War II, Nowak-Jezioranski traveled from Poland through Nazi-occupied Europe to Britain to alert the allies to the Holocaust. Mr. Nowak-Jezioranski served as a National Director of the Polish-American Congress from 1988 until 1998. Until the passing of his wife in 1999, Mr. Nowak-Jezioranski resided in Annandale, Virginia; in 2002 he returned to Warsaw, Poland. Mr. Nowak-Jezioranski was a personal friend of Pope John Paul II, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Former Presidents Carter, Reagan and Bush. Mr. Nowak-Jezioranski is the author of over 15 books, and is considered to be a great authority on modern Polish history and politics. Mr. Jezioranski passed away on January 21, 2005.From: resume
