Radziminski, Charles
Civil engineer. Born in Poland in 1805. Served as a lieutenant in the Polish Army during Polish revolution against Russia in 1830-1831. In 1834 deported by Austria to U.S. Engaged as civil engineer by James River Kanawha Co., Richmond, Va. Took part as captain of the U.S. Army in the war between United States and Mexico. After the war with Mexico chosen secretary of the Joint Commission which surveyed the new boundary between U.S. and Mexico. In this capacity crossed the entire length of wild country on horseback and on foot. The survey lasted three years ending in 1855. A military camp in Oklahoma was named after him and a mountain in the southern part of Kiowa County, southwestern Oklahoma, was named Mount Radziminski. Died Sept. 18, 1858.
