Retka, Rev. Francis, C.S.Sp.
Clergyman. Born Jan. 27, 1877 in Poniatowski, Wis.; graduated from the Holy Ghost Fathers College, Latrobe, Pa., in 1897. Graduated from Cornwell's Heights near Philadelphia, departments of philosophy and theology. Ordained Nov. 4, 1903 in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1907 appointed professor at the Holy Ghost Fathers' College in Cornwell's Heights. From 1908 to 1915 served in numerous parishes in the Pittsburgh diocese. In 1915 appointed chaplain of the Orphan's Asylum in Emsworth, Pa; made the Holy Family Orphanage, a first class institution. In this respect he accomplished, many years earlier, what Father Flanagan has done in Nebraska. Celebrated his silver jubilee of priesthood in 1928.
