Roberti, Lyda
Actress. Born May 20, 1906 in Warsaw, Poland. The daughter of the famous European Clown, Roberti. As a child she was determined to be a professional actress and accompanied her father everywhere with her sister Marya. Studied in a dozen different countries including Poland, Russia, France, Germany, Egypt, Japan and China; decided to start a professional career of her own in the United States. Reaching Los Angeles, won applause dancing in a Fauchon and Marco show. Upon reaching New York, with this show, obtained an engagement doing specialty dances in "You Said It." The show went to Chicago where she signed a Paramount screen contract and returned to Hollywood to make her film debut in "Dancers in the Dark." Later appeared in "Million Dollar Legs." Has scored in many pictures: Roberta, Three Cornered Moon, Torch Singer, The Kid from Spain, College Rhythm, The Big Broadcast of 1935, Champagne Waltz. Died in 1938 in Hollywood, Cal.
