Romer, Gustave
Journalist, consular official. Came to United States a few years before the outbreak of World War I, very active member of the Polish National Defense Committee (KON); delegate to a national convention of the P.N.A. For his services during the first World War, decorated with the cross of Pilsudski Legion. Was consular official for seven years in the Polish Consulates in Montreal and Winnipeg, Canada, and also at Chicago. He was also a very talented actor appearing in various dramatic roles on the stage in Chicago, Buffalo and Detroit. Served as a journalist on various Polish papers in Cleveland, Detroit ("Dziennik Polski"), Buffalo ("Dziennik dla Wszystkich"), Chicago ("Dziennik Zwiazkowy"). For seven years he was a member of the editorial staff of "Gwiazda Polarna" and "Rolnik" -- Polish weeklies published in Stevens Point, Wis.
