Rosentreter, Mary
Social worker. Born 1884 in Poland; came to U.S. in 1886. In 1899 co organizer of first Nest of Polish Falcons in Chicago, Ill., and of all other nests of Chicago. In 1906 took part in the social work at South Side Settlement, Chicago. Elected director of Polish Women's Alliance of America, in 1907. In 1912 engaged as clerk at Immigration Bureau, Chicago, Ill. In 1917 married Edward Rosentreter. In 1916 under the leadership of Madame Paderewska, organized in Chicago a circle: "Dziewczeta dla Dziewczat" (Girls for Girls), to help Polish girls in Poland. In 1917 in Joliet, Ill., organized a chapter of the Polish White Cross.
