Career: assistant prof., University of Cincinnati (OH), 1962-70; associate prof., Clemson University (SC), 1971-90; Retired.

Author: Lessing's Aesthetica in Nuce, 1971; The Prince: A Historical Critique, 1992; numerous articles in: PMLA, Journal of the History of Idea, The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism.

Honors: Phi Beta Kappa; grant, Fulbright Foundation, 1955-58.
