Urban, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph
Roman Catholic clergyman. Born in Wyszatyce, Poland, in 1878. Received elementary education in Poland. Served in the Polish Army. Studied at the College of Salesian Fathers in Turin, Italy; later studied theology at the Seminary in Montefiascone. Ordained to priesthood in Italy in 1908. Came to U.S. soon after ordination and was incardinated to the Trenton Diocese. First assignment as assistant pastor of St. Hedwig's Church, Trenton, N.J., and a year later appointed administrator of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, South Amboy, N.J., in which post he remained till 1910. Shortly thereafter appointed administrator of St. Joseph's Church, Camden, N.J., and few months later appointed pastor of St. Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy, N.J., in 1911. The Holy See elevated him in 1930 to the rank of Domestic Prelate with the title of Right Reverend Monsignor. Remained pastor of St. Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy, N.J., from 1911 to 1935.
