Zienkiewicz, Rev. Anatole, O.F.M.
Clergyman. Born in Warsaw, Poland. Took part in the Polish insurrection against Russia in 1863. Captured and taken by the Russians to Akatuja [Jakucja?], Siberia, where he remained from 1863 to 1866. In 1866 taken to Tunka, Siberia in the same capacity, where he remained until 1876. Escaped and fled to Krakow, Poland, where he was ordained in 1883. From 1883 to 1888 an apostle of Independence of Poland; traveled incognito in Bassarabia and Ukraine, Russia, keeping the Poles in a strong faith in Poland's cause. In 1888 came to U.S. and was a guest of Rev. John Pitass, pastor of St. Stanislaus parish in Buffalo. Died in Buffalo, N. Y.From: "Who's Who in Polish America" by Rev.
