Professor of Sociology. Born in Swiatnice, Poland, in 1882. Jagiellonian University in Cracow granted him a degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Director of Polish Emigrants Welfare Ass'n in Warsaw from 1911 to 1914. Lecturer at the University of Chicago, 1917-19. Professor of Sociology and Cultural Philosophy at the University of Poznan. Former Visiting Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. Collaborated with Thomas on a two volume book entitled "The Polish Peasant in Europe and America," and also author of other books on sociology and cultural philosophy. During 1939-40 lectured at Columbia University. and since 1940 visiting professor of Sociology. University of Illinois. Member of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
