Zuchowski, Henry W. "Hank"
(1926 - 2009)NEW JERSEY - Henry Walter "Hank" Zuchowski, 83, of Clifton, NJ, died November 24, 2009 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown, PA. Born in Passaic, NJ on December 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Stanley T. and Mary (Mazurkiewicz) Zuchowski. He attended St. Joseph's Polish Parochial School in Passaic, was a graduate of Passaic High School, and received a B.S. in Business Management from Rutgers University in 1958. He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. (Curr) Zuchowski. He worked in the purchasing office of the Kearfott Co., a Division of General Precision until his retirement in 1990. Hank served his country honorably in the Navy during WW II in the European, Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. He was a communicant of St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Clifton, NJ. He belonged to the Polish National Alliance of America, was a member of the Rutgers Paterson Regional Council and past president of the Clifton Little League Central Division and Babe Ruth Leagues. He was the organizer and past president of the Clifton Junior Fooball Association and past president of the Clifton Junior Mustangs Football Team organization. He spearheaded a drive to build dugouts for the Little League teams at Sperling Park in the Athenia Section of Clifton, NJ.
Hank was also a member of the staff of The Post Eagle for many years, where he served as sports editor and wrote a column titled "Sports Parade".
Hank is survived by his wife; sons: Thomas and his wife Sarah of Hampton, NJ, and William and his wife Pamela of Milford, NJ; daughters Sharyn Brown of Equinunk, PA, and Catherine Zuchowski of Clifton, NJ; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Stanley.
A memorial service was celebrated on Saturday, December 5th, at 9:00 a.m., at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, 49 Speer Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to ChildFund International at 1-800-776 6767.
