Zychlinski, Casimir
Civic leader. Born Feb. 24, 1859 in Poznan, Poland; came to United States in 1876. His active participation in the Polish National Alliance began in 1911 with his election as a director. In 1912 was elected president, and from that time until his death he filled this office uninterruptedly, having been reelected five times. Due to his will, his creative ability and winning personality, the organization grew from 110,000 members in 1915, with assets of $3,000,000, to 250,000 members in 1926, with assets of over $14,000,000. For his contributions to Polish immigrants, Polish Government bestowed upon him the Commander's Cross of the Order of "Polonia Restituta." Was also one of the founders of another leading Polish-American organization, "The Polish Falcons Alliance of America," in 1894, to which he gave his active support throughout his life; was known as the Father of the Falcons. Died Aug. 28, 1927 in Chicago, Ill.
