Zychlinski, Louis
Captain in Civil War. Born in Poland, active in Polish insurrection in 1848 against Prussia; later joined Garibaldi insurrection in Italy; subsequently emigrated to U.S. and landed in New York, April, 1862. Served in the Cavalry of Colonel Van Alen, Hooker's Division as staff officer, in captain's rank; was wounded. Wrote: "Pamietniki z wojny Amerykanskiej," 1862, Poznan, 1863 and "Przygody Wielkopolanina w Azji i Ameryce," Poznan, 1882. Left U.S. for Poland to participate in the uprising against Russia.
