Zygmund, Anthony
Professor of mathematics. Born in Warsaw, Poland, Dec. 26, 1900. In 1923 University of Warsaw, Poland granted him degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Completed special studies in Paris, Oxford, Cambridge as a scholar of Rockefeller Foundation. Assistant Professor at the Warsaw Institute of Technology from 1922 to 1929. Lecturer at the University of Warsaw. Special Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wilno. Author of several monographs on mathematical science published in Polish, English and French languages. Came to U.S. in March, 1940, lectured at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and since 1940 to date (1943) professor of mathematics at Mt. Holyoke College.
