Helinski, Theodore M.
Banker, postmaster. Born in 1856 in Poland. Came to U.S. as a young boy, settling in Poniatowski, Wis. Here in 1880 he issued a proclamation to the Polish immigrants to join a newly founded organization, Polish National Alliance. Later came to Duluth, Minn., where he was appointed postmaster; he kept that position for a long time. In 1893 elected Censor of Polish National Alliance. In 1899 elected general secretary of said organization. In 1906 elected cashier of Northwestern Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago, which position he held until his death. In 1917, during the World War I, elected President of the Polish Central Committee in Chicago. Helped much in organizing the Polish Women's Alliance of America in Chicago, Ill.
