Laschenski (Leszczynski), Sigmund J.
Architect. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Jan. 17, 1891. Attended parochial and public schools from 1897 to 1904. Apprenticed as cabinet maker in 1905 and started studying architecture in night schools. In May 1917 went to First Officers' Training Camp at Fort Niagara and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Three months later became 1st lieutenant and six months later was promoted to the rank of captain. Honorably discharged at the termination of the war, Mar. 21, 1919. Attended the University of Pennsylvania in the Fall of 1919; graduated with B.A. degree in Architecture. From 1922 to 1926 taught Architectural Design, 2 yrs. at Philadelphia T. Square Club and 2 yrs. at the University of Pennsylvania. In May 1935 was called by the Federal Government on the recommendation of the University of Pennsylvania to take charge of the planning of a small town (Hightstown, N. J.)
