Laskowski, Michael
Biochemist, professor. Born in Smolensk, Poland, Mar. 18, 1905. Studied in Warsaw. In 1929 University of Warsaw granted him a degree of Doctor of Philosophy. From 1933 to 1939 lecturer of animal physiology at the Warsaw Agriculture College. For the school year 1939-40 appointed as Special Professor in the Warsaw Agriculture College. At the start of the II World War he was stationed by the Polish Government in Lwow from where he left for Roumania, and then went to France where he was engaged in the war industry. From France he came to U.S. in February 1941. Author of several works in biochemistry and animal physiology published in the Polish, German and English languages. Visiting Professor at New School for Social Research, New York City. In 1941 assigned as Research Assistant in the Biochemical Laboratory of Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y. At present member of the faculty at the University of Minnesota. Corresponding member of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
