Lednicki, Waclaw
Professor of Slavonic Literature. Born in Moscow, April 28, 1891. Studied in the Universities of Moscow and Cracow. In 1922 the Jagiellonian University granted him degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Secretary of Polish Legation in Moscow, 1918. Professor of Russian Literature at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow since 1928. During 1926-1928 he was a director of Slavonic Literature and Languages at the University of Brussels, Belgium, and was a lecturer in other universities in Belgium and France. Member of the Polish Academy and member of numerous educational societies in Poland and other countries. Author of some ten books in the field of Slavonic literature and author of about 60 monographs. Came to U.S. in the summer of 1940 and since that time has been visiting lecturer of Slavonic Literature at Harvard University. Active member of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
