Casimir and Myra Lenard Presented with the "Pride of Polonia Award"
On Sunday, August 29, 1999, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA, Casimir and Myra Lenard were honored by the Executive Board of the Polish Apostolate in the United States, headed by Adam Cardinal Maida of Detroit. The Lenard's were presented with the "Pride of Polonia Award" for their many years of dedication serving Polonia and Poland.Myra Lenard, Polish American Congress Executive Director in Washington, DC, primary function is to monitor the pulse of our Federal Government especially as it relates to matters affecting Polonia throughout this nation as well as in Poland. Casimir Lenard, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, works along with his wife, Myra, and gives her tremendous assistance.
The "Pride of Polonia Award" began in 1992 when the Executive Board of the Polish Apostolate decided that each year someone who has made a unique contribution to the Polish people should be recognized and honored in a special way. The first recipient was John Cardinal Krol.
