Memorial To Three Lewandowski Brothers

By JOHN DRZYMKOWSKI

The Lyndhurst Amvets Post and its national organization are now conducting a fund raising program, in order to erect a permanent memorial to the three Lewandowski Brothers who lost their lives in the second World War. This November a marble monument with the etched likeness of the three men, Walter, William and Alexander will be memorialized in the parking area of the Amvets Post, which is located right next door to the Knights of Columbus on Station Square in Lyndhurst. A decommissioned tank will be permanently parked near the monument. The chairman is Philip Spanola, Commander. Publicity is handled by John Drzymkowski. The monies needed are $10,000. Anyone is asked to support this worthy cause. Please make a check out to "Lewandowski Brothers Fund" in any amount and mail to Amvets, 459 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071, c/o Mr. Philip Spanola or call 201-933-0400. With the opening of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" the Second World War is brought to life and offers both veterans and young people the importance of these men who gave the supreme sacrifice, their lives in order to protect liberty. The Lewandowski Brothers deserve this long needed recognition. We in Lyndhurst can be proud of this All- American family of Polish descent. The Polish communities around the state are urged to rally round this cause.
