Lewandowski, Edmund
Artist, painter. Born July 3, 1914 in Milwaukee, Wis. Attended parochial, public, and secondary schools in Milwaukee. In 1930 was awarded the Kiwanis Scholarship to study art at the Layton School of Art; graduated after three years. His painitings have been exhibited both in America and Europe. The Downtown Gallery of New York acts as an exclusive agency for his paintings. Wisconsin painters and sculptors exhibited his work 1931-1935. Exhibited also at the World Fair in Chicago in 1933 & 1934; Warsaw School of Fine Arts, Poland; Cracow Academy, Poland; Kalamazoo, Michigan Art Institute, Chicago Art Institute, Polish Fine Arts Club of Chicago and Milwaukee, W.P.A. Art Exhibit in Philips Memorial Gallery, Washington, D.C. 1936; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and other exhibitions. His paintings can be found in the following collections : Polish Governmental Collection, Polish Students' Assn., R. S. Graves, Kosciuszko Jr. H. S., Layton Art Gallery, S. V. Lewandlowski, Warsaw Academy of Art, Cracow Academy of Art, Archbishop Stritch, Catholic Herald Publication, and Dolores Bingenheimer. Married. Residence: 1930 W.
