Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), 1965, Ph.D., 1976, Lublin Medical Academy; diploma (in African studies), University of Warsaw (Poland), 1967.

Career: chief, Division of Anesthesia, State Clinical Hospital, Lublin, 1976-82; associate prof., Department of Anesthesiology, Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, 1982 -.

Author: over 50 scientific publications in the area of neuroanesthesia, regulation of blood supply to the brain, traumatic injury of brain in Polish, American and Western European journals; over 30 presentations at scientific meetings and conferences.

Member of: founder, board member, International Cerebral Hemodynamics Society; Polish Society of Anesthesiologists (vice president, Lublin chapter, 1974-78), and Polish Society of Neurosurgeons, 1967-83; International Anesthesia Research Society; Society of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Critical Care; American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Honors: doctoral dissertation award, Polish Society of Neurosurgeons, 1977.
