Sophie A. Litwa
Grand Marshal Pulaski Day Parade 1995
Sophie Litwa has been a life-long activist in the Polish American Community. Mrs. Litwa was selected as the Grand Marshall of the 1995 Pulaski Day Parade in recognition of her many years of service to the Polonia in the Chester and Delaware county areas of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Litwa was born in Chester. PA., and educated at St. Hedwlg's Parochial School, Eddystone High School, Alliance College and Purdue University. Upon completing her studies, she pursued a career in business. Over the years Mrs. Litwa has been the recipient of numerous distinguished service awards from community and fraternal organizations.
Besides being an active member of the Polish American Congress for many years, Mrs. Litwa presently serves as the regional Vice President of the Polish American Congress representing the Delaware County area.
Mrs. Litwa is a former Commissioner of District 6 of the Polish National Alliance, America's largest Polish fraternal organization, where she has served as financial secretary and sales representative for the Polish National Alliance Lodge 650 for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Litwa is also well-known for her active involvement with the United Polish Societies of Delaware County, the Polish American Heritage Association of Delaware County and St. Hedwlg's Church in Chester, PA.
With her late husband, Stanley, Sophie raised four children: Regina, Denise, Stanley and Daniel. Mrs. Litwa is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren who join with her in maintaining the beautiful Polish customs and traditions which have been such an important part of her family and social life.
