Lorentowicz, Irena
Decorator, artist. Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1908. Graduate of School of Fine Arts and Government Theatrical Institute, Warsaw, Poland. In 1936 emigrated to France where she studied at the University of Sorbonne, Paris, France. In 1936 she received first prize for creating theatrical costumes and decorations for Carol Szymanowski a ballet -- "Harnasie" which was presented with great success in Paris. She was engaged as decorator by Opera Comique in Paris. Her pictures were exhibited in Paris, Stockholm, Geneva, Amsterdam, London, and at the New York World's Fair, 1939-1940. One of her pictures was bought by the French Government for "Jeu de Paume" Museum in Paris. At the International Fair in Paris during 1937 she was awarded gold medal for theatrical decorations and projects. She is known as a very talented interior decorator.
