Born Apr. 25, 1931, Warsaw, Poland; came to U.S., 1968; son of Jan and Stanislawa (Gmitrzak); married Joanna (Machaj); children: Peter, Magda.

Education: Master of Science (M.S.), University of Warsaw, 1956.

Career: technical director, Mining and Geology Company, Warsaw, 1957-65; executive geologist, quarries, Libya, 1965-68; geologist, Bureau of Water Supply, New York City, 1969-89; owner, Era Food Export, Brooklyn (NY), co-owner, Press Box Restaurant, New York City, 1980's.

Author: numerous articles in journals and magazines, i.a. on travels to Alaska, Brazil, Ecuador and Amazon River.

Member of: Polonia Technica Inc., New York City. (president, 1974-77); co-founder and president, Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, New York City.
