Machnikowski, Ignace A.
Professor, author. Born July 31, 1847 in Poland. Studied at the University in Breslau, Germany, and Krakow, Poland. Engaged by the Government of Turkey as engineer of bridges and railroads. Studied medicine and received M.D. degree and practiced in Milwaukee, Wis. In 1890 came to Chicago, Ill., with his family. Editor of "Wiara i Ojczyzna" and engaged as a teacher. In 1902 came to Detroit, Mich. as professor in Polish Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich. Remained here for two generations. He spoke English, Polish, French, German, Russian, Latin, Greek, Turkish, Arabian, Spanish, Jewish, Aramaic, Armenian, Hungarian and others. Author of many books; some are: "Szkaplerz Matki," "Gramatyka Jezyka Polskiego," "Katolicyzm i Rozum Zgadaja Sie." Died March 17, 1935.
