Representative from Connecticut; born in New Britain, Hartford County, Conn., August 17, 1902; attended high school; grocer; member of the New Britain, Conn., common council, 1926-1934; business owner; member of the Connecticut state house of representatives, 1932-1937; chairman of the New Britain, Conn., police board, 1934-1940; insurance agent; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-seventh Congress (January 3, 1941-January 3, 1943); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Seventy-eighth Congress in 1942; city tax collector, New Britain, Conn., 1950-1969; died on October 19, 1993, in New Britain, Conn.; interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain, Conn.

Maciora, Lucien J.
Civic leader. Born in New Britain, Conn., Aug. 17, 1902; educated in the elementary schools and high schools; after leaving school was engaged in the grocery business with his father in New Britain; married Stella Walegora in 1927; two daughters: Joan and Phyllis; member of the New Britain Common Council from April, 1926 to April, 1934; was engaged in the furniture and undertaking business, 1928-39; elected a member of the General Assembly of Connecticut from New Britain for three terms, serving in the 1931, 1933. and 1935 sessions; appointed chairman of the New Britain Police Board by Mayor Dunn in 1934, and by Mayor Coyle in 1938; a Director of the Peoples Savings Bank of New Britain at present connected with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a special agent; elected to the Seventy-seventh Congress on Nov. 5, 1940. Resides in New Britain, Conn.
