Malinowski, Ernest
Engineer. Born 1815 in Rozyczna. Podole, Poland; took part in the Polish revolution in 1830-31 against Russia; fled to France, graduated here in engineering, went to Peru. In 1869 drafted the plans and built, together with engineers: Mierznikowski, Folkierski, Habich, and Kluger, the highest railroad track in the world from Lima, Peru to Oroyo through the Andes, 14,400 feet high. Built other railroads, connecting Pacific with Cusco and Lake Titicaca. In 1888 established department of mathematics at the University in Lima, Peru; became professor and Dean of said university. Died in 1890.
