Career: assistant prof., University of Warsaw, 1977-81; visiting prof., Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson (NY), 1984-85, Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville (NY), 1985-86; senior lecturer, 1986 -, director, East & Central Europe Program, 1990 -, New School for Social Research, New York City.

Author: numerous articles and book chapters on issues concerning society, culture and politics.
