Michalak, Raymond, Felix, B.A., M.A.

Born Oct. 11, 1905, Milwaukee, Wis.; son of Felix J. Michalak and Anna Wojciechowski. Graduated from St. Cyril's School in 1919, and from St. Mary's High School, Orchard Lake, Mich.; entered St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, Mich., in 1925, and finished a course in Philosophy in 1927. Graduated from Marquette University Liberal Arts Course June, 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Assigned as instructor of English and Science to Kilbourn Junior High School, Sept., 1929. Assigned as instructor of English in the Pulaski High School in 1933; vice principal of the Pulaski High School, since Sept., 1934 to date. Graduated with a Master's degree from the University of Marquette Graduate School, June, 1938. Enlisted as private in Company K, 127th Infantry, Oct. 12, 1929. Made corporal Nov. 14, 1929. Discharged, to accept a commission in the U.S. Reserve as second lieutenant Feb. 24, 1930. Assigned to Ft. Brady as commissioned officer with the 2nd Infantry, U.S. Army in 1930. Married Oct. 28, 1929 to Jolanta Sierzchulski, who died May 4, 1935. Married again Harriet Gorski Aug. 9, 1939. Recipient of a scholarship from the Kosciuszko Foundation to study in the University of Krakow, Poland, in 1935. Visited Denmark, Norway, toured Poland, sojourned in Czechoslovakia and Germany, 1935. Toured Europe again from June until August 1937, visiting England, France and Ireland. Commissioned captain of Company K, 127th lnfantry, W.N.G. (Gwardya Kosciuszki) Dec. 12, 1936, the only company in the American army made up of men of Polish extraction, existing for the past 67 years.
