Krystian Tkaczewski

Born in Tarnow, Poland, Krystian Tkaczewski has been called a "Polish virtuoso." He has studied in both the United States and Poland. In 2004, Mr. Tkaczewski graduated from the Academy of Music in Wroclaw with a Master of Arts degree. In 2007, he received a graduate diploma from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford in the class of Oxana Yablonskaya. Presently, he is pursuing a doctorate in musical arts at the University of Hartford.

Mr. Tkaczewski has concertized on four continents and in fifteen countries. For instance, he has performed with the Polish National Radio Orchestra, Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leopoldinum Orchestra, Connecticut Virtuosi, the Tarnow Chamber Orchestra, and the Wroclaw Chamber Orchestra. In April of 2007, his debut performance at Carnegie Hall was very well-received. Anthony Aibel of the New York Concert Review wrote that Mr. Tkaczewski showed "in-depth knowledge, played with passion, and showed power-house technical reading." Furthermore, "Mr. Tkaczewski showed devotion and a natural affinity for the music of his homeland."

Participation in numerous competitions and festivals has taken Mr. Tkaczewski around the world. He has won first or second prize in competitions in Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, and the United States. Mr. Tkaczewski has also been the recipient of scholarships and awards from the Wroclaw Music Academy, the Polish Ministry of Culture, the City of Tarnow, and the Musical Club of Hartford.

Krystian Tkaczewski's long list of accomplishments includes invitations to take part in various Chopin festivals in Poland and Austria. He has also performed at Chopin's Home in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. In June of 2006, Mr. Tkaczewski was featured in a gala at the Royal Castle in Warsaw on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Society of Polish Artist Musicians. He was honored to be a soloist with the Polish Radio Orchestra under the baton of L. Borowicz.

Since 2004, Mr. Tkaczewski has been an active member of the Society of Polish Musical Artists. He is the founder and artistic director of the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford and the Artistic Director of the Chopin Society of Connecticut.
