Wajert, John C.
Pharmacist. Born May 26, 1890 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Son of Casimir and the late Petronella Wajert. Attended St. Adalbert's parochial school, the Bedford School and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Class of 1910. Received his practical experience in Pharmacy with Stanislaw Szarzynski. In the year 1913, opened a drug store in the city of New Castle, Pa., which at present (1943) is located at 16 West Long Avenue. Worked for the liberation of Poland during the first World War, 1914-1918 and was treasurer of the local Polish Committee which raised over six thousand dollars ($6,000); also helped to recruit 35 volunteers to the Polish Army in France. In 1921 married Gertrude A. Krzyzan of Youngstown, Ohio, and is the father of six children. President of the Central Council of Polish Organizations of Lawrence County. President of the P.N.A. group 411, New Castle, Pa. Secretary of the Pennsylvania Savings Fund Bank & Loan Association. Active member of the Polish Falcons of New Castle and the local Knights of Columbus. Member of SS. Philip and James R. C. Church; member of Lawrence County Defense Council and Rationing Board; director of the South Side Board of Trade of New Castle; director of the New Castle Hospital. Vice-president of the Lawrence County Pharmaceutical Association. Address: 16 W. Long Ave., New Castle, Pa.
