Stefan Wicik - (b. 1925), lyric tenor, has been active on the American stage or 45 years. Wicik arrived in the US in 1951 after vocal studies in Germany and soon became popular through national tours with Polish classic operas such as "Halka" and "Haunted Manor." He was soloist in the Chicago Lyric Opera (1964069) and for many years in the Lithuanian Opera. He also toured in Poland and Europe. Wicik acted in many Polonian musical theater productions in Chicago until the 90s. Awarded by the Polish Government-in Exile in London with its Golden Cross of Merit, he was also recently decorated with the Polonia Restituta medal by President Lech Walesa.
