Wieczorek, Rev. Simon, C.R.
Clergyman. Born in Cmielin, Poland. Secondary education and part of theology in Sandomierz. As a student of theology took part in the Polish insurrection against Russia in 1863. After he was released from the Russian prison, left Poland for Rome, Italy, where he was ordained in 1868. In 1868 came to U.S., settling in Parisville, Mich. In 1869 went to Iowa, as a missionary, serving the Poles and Germans. From Feb., 1869 to March 18, 1869 served in Polishville, Iowa. From October 1871 to June 25, 1873 pastor of St. Adalbert's parish, Detroit, Mich., which parish he organized. On June 25, 1873 removed from this pastorship because he built a Polish school without the bishop's permit. From July, 1874 to September 18, 1874 pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka parish, Chicago, Ill. From Jan. 6, 1875 to Dec. 4, 1876 at St. Mary's parish, Manitowoc, Wis., and at the same time pastor of St. Casimir's parish, Newton (Northheim), Wis., from Jan. 1, 1875 to Jan. 16, 1877.
