Wilamowski, Rev. Francis
Roman Catholic clergyman. Born in MIew, Western Prussia, January 31, 1882. As a student was a member of secret underground Polish school societies which fought against germanizing of Polish students by the Prussian government. Studied at Collegium Marianum in Pelplin, Poland. Came to United States in September, 1902, settling first in Detroit, Mich., where he attended the Polish Seminary of SS. Cyril and Methodius. Ordained to holy priesthood by Bishop McDonnell on May 30, 1907. His first assignment after ordination was as assistant curate to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Brooklyn, N.Y. Organizer and present (1943) pastor of St. Hedwig's Church, Floral Park, Long Island, N. Y. Decorated by the Republic of Poland with the cross of "Polonia Restituta."
