Wilga, Francis
Civic leader. Born in Ciezkowice, Poland, June 14, 1896. Elementary and secondary education in Ciezkowice, Normal College for Teachers in Tarnow, Poland. In 1914 came to U.S., settled in Chicago, where he studied English and bookkeeping at night school. Joined a Polish choir "New Life," singing and dramatic society, affiliated with the Polish Singers Alliance of America. In 1934 was elected vice-president at the National Convention of the Polish Singers Alliance of America. General secretary of said organization since 1937, a position he holds until present time. Member of P.N.A., Polish Workmen's Aid Fund, where he is financial secretary of Lodge 10, and president of the District 14. State of Illinois. Married to Josephine Kurtecki, have two daughters.
